We’re a 1% for the Planet Member: Month in Review, July 2019
What does it mean that we’re a 1% for the Planet member? Are email marketing measurements gospel? Why were people running around Yorkshire hills in skimpy shorts in 1976? Find out here.
Haven’t you heard?
We’ve become a member of 1% for the Planet!
What does that mean? Well, it means we are committing to give 1% of our revenue to support environmental nonprofits in the 1% for the Planet network. We’re told it’s not commonplace for a digital marketing agency to so willingly engage in philanthropic activities, but hey, maybe we can start a new trend.
If you feel inspired and want to do more to support environmental nonprofits and help save our home planet, check out 1% for the Planet.
Measuring Email Marketing
One of our favourite things about digital marketing is that everything is measurable. There are accurate metrics for reach, engagement, comments, reactions, opens, clicks, time on page, traffic source, conversion rates and sales attribution, which when tracked digitally provide insights that help us to improve the future performance of the advertising and marketing we do.
But that might not always be the case. If you’re only looking at the data to make decisions then you could become blindsided by the numbers and end up with some erroneous assumptions on your own email marketing messages. Applying common sense and empathy with your target audience can stop you from getting bogged down with what the numbers say and perhaps help you avoid making some questionable decisions.
Let’s talk about email marketing
And finally…
I first remember hearing about fell running about 5 years ago when a colleague told me his plan for the weekend was to run up and down some huge hills, or fells, in North Yorkshire. My response being, “Why!? That sounds awful.”
Three years later, I moved to Sheffield and my newfound close proximity to the Peak District inspired me to try my hand at the popular local outdoor recreational activity. Now I’m a member of local fell running club Dark Peak Fell Runners and regularly enjoy slogging it up and down them there hills.
If you’re questioning what the appeal of this unusual sport is, like I initially did, then give this archive documentary by Yorkshire Television from 1976 a watch. Presenter Roger Greenwood takes on Britain’s most famous fell race.
